We are a loving Christian family looking forward to sharing our home with a mature guest seeking to pursue their studies or get a different life experience abroad and explore all the nature and adventure that the beautiful North Shore has to offer. Both my husband and I have travelled and lived in many different cities. While I have had more overseas living, we both have a heart to make those who are away from home (whether in the same country or much farther from home) feel welcomed, at peace and comfortable. Our family all speak English and I also speak french as my second language. As we are sharing our home with you, we expect that you treat it with respect and clean up after yourself as though it were your own home. This will make everyone happier and more comfortable :) We enjoy hiking, biking and going to the rivers and beaches nearby. And it would be our pleasure as well as our little trail blazing boys to take you on some of the local trails.
Our home is very spacious and boasts great views of the ocean. It is on a corner lot with a yard and beautiful gardens all around and friendly neighbours. It is in a great location in terms of having both nature and shopping within reach. There are bus stops as close as 5 houses down the street and 8 houses up the street. It’s a quick walk down the hill to the ocean, where you will also find a Bird Sanctuary and Conservation area you can explore. The nearest community/recreation Center is a 13 min walk by road or scenic trail. Groceries/coffee/shops are a 4 min drive or 7 min bike ride (both east and west). Capilano University as well as the popular, must see, Deep Cove Village and Quarry Rock trail head are all only a quick 7 min drive and the Lonsdale Quay Sea bus that takes you downtown is only a 15 min drive. I am happy to give you rides by car when it’s in the direction I am going and I can also help you find a bike to use during your stay if you wish.
The house has 2 wings (east and west) with the main floor between them (with kitchen, living room and TV room which are all shared/available for your use). The homestay bedroom is in the upper-west wing above the garage where there is a large bathroom and another bedroom. The West-wing is a very set apart and peaceful area of the house. We have 2 adorable young boys who will mostly be kept away from the west-wing so you can enjoy your quiet and privacy. The West-wing bathroom will be for your private use until we get another student in the second bedroom (before this time we will discuss with you which student you would feel comfortable having in that wing and sharing the bathroom with).
The homestay bedroom #1 gets lots of sunlight as it is south facing, and on the upper floor which also means it gets a lovely view of the ocean and surrounding greenery. The pictures show a single bed but we have upgraded the bed to a larger full/double mattress for a more enjoyable rest, so the bedding will also have a different pattern (I will update the pictures to show this change soon). Towels are also provided. This bedroom has a full set of dark wood bedroom furniture including a desk, chair and 5 drawer dresser as well as a closet. And it even has a microwave and a mini fridge so you can have more independence, store food that you buy and can warm it easily within the comfort of you own room when it’s late at night or whenever you choose to. You are also welcome to sit and eat with us. See pictures for more of what is in your room. You will also have free access to the laundry machines 1 day a week and there is Wifi throughout the house to use on your device. We are a non-smoking household and don’t plan on having any pets in the near future (in case you have allergies).

COVID disclaimer: Our family practices good hygiene and I clean the common spaces regularly. It is our expectation that you clean the bathroom that you use and vacuum your room, empty your garbage (dispose of old food from fridge), wash your bedding regularly and leave the common spaces the way you found them after use. While we want you to feel comfortable with us, we also want to respect your space if you wish to be more socially distant. You can feel free to tell us how much or little contact you want to have with us. It is my nature to be hospitable so when I am cooking in large amounts for my family, I will often offer you breakfast or dinner at no charge and you can decide if you would like to take a meal or not :)
